Study of Sonoma County Fire District, Rancho Adobe FPD, and County Service Area 40

The Commission will consider adopting the determinations from a Municipal Service Review and Sphere of Influence Study for three fire and emergency medical agencies in the County at its November 5, 2025 meeting.

The study recommends that the sphere of influence of Sonoma County Fire District be amended to include the territory of the other two agencies. If approved Sonoma County Fire is expected to apply for a reorganization, taking over all or parts of the other territories. That proposal will be subjected to a separate proceeding which will include a protest hearing, allowing registered voters and landowners to express their disapproval of the reorganization.
