   2. Legislative Affairs:
      1. Bill Seeking CALAFCO Sponsorship: LAFCO Authority to Direct Annexations to Address Water and Wastewater Deficiencies
      2. An environmental rights non-governmental agency continues to seek sponsorship of legislation to amend Sections 56375 and 56430 of the Government Code (CKH) that would grant LAFCOs the authority to initiate annexations to cities and special districts for the purposes of addressing water and wastewater service deficiencies. The group has amended the proposal seeking to direct LAFCOs to identify areas with deficient water and wastewater services and report these to the State.
      3. CALAFCO is declining to sign on as a bill sponsor.  As the legislation has not been introduced there is not yet an opportunity to take a formal position on the legislative language.
