TranslateWest County Fire Municipal Service Review
LAFCO staff has prepared a Municipal Service Review for fifteen fire and emergency service agencies in the West County region, and the Commission will consider adopting the report at the August 7, 2019 meeting.
The report provides an evaluation of the subject agencies, but does not analyze or recommend sphere of influence amendments. The Commission may direct staff to prepare a companion report that would study potential amendments that would allow for reorganizations of the subject agencies.
The Municipal Service Review is in Public Review Draft status, and includes a main report and five appendices. Subject agencies, affected agencies, and interested parties are encouraged to submit comments to the Commission in writing, or to the Commission at the August meeting.
Staff is recommending that the Commission provide direction regarding any changes to the determinations in the report, with the intention of adopting the determinations by resolution at the Commission’s September meeting. (Determinations are expressions of the Commission’s viewpoint on matters related to service provision by the subject agencies.)
Staff is also recommending that the Commission allow for factual corrections to the report (but not changes to the determinations) through the interim period before the September meeting. This will allow staff, subject agencies, and interested parties additional time to amend the report, which will subsequently be published in final form.
