Analysis
At its November 6, 2019, meeting, the Commission asked that the Fire Services Working Group, a collection of fire and emergency services agency staff formed by the County, provide a presentation to the Commission at the April 1, 2020, meeting.
The presentation was requested so that fire agency staff could indicate, from their perspective, how to best consolidate agencies in the County, thereby informing the Commission about conducting further Municipal Service Reviews and ordering amendments to spheres of influence, to support potential reorganization proposals.
The Fire Service Working Group has delivered a draft slide presentation to staff (attached). It is unknown at this time whether representatives from the Fire Service Working Group will be prepared to deliver a presentation.
At the Commission’s direction, staff is preparing an analysis of potential sphere of influence amendments that have been made by the Fire Services Working Group, by fire and emergency service agencies, and by staff. This report will include maps indicative of the proposed sphere amendments, and evaluation of the proposals against the criteria that the Commission has adopted. This report is slated for the Commission’s October meeting.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Commission receive a presentation from the Fire Services Working Group, or receives a presentation at a later date.
