Notice of Public Hearing City of Sonoma Municipal Services Review

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission will conduct a public hearing at or after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 2022, via virtual meeting, at which time all interested persons may be heard on the following item:

File No. 2021-08: Municipal Service Review of the City of Sonoma

The Commission will consider adopting the determinations of a report that examines the efficiency and effectiveness of municipal services provided by the City of Sonoma.  A “public review draft” of the report is posted on the Commission’s website at www.sonomalafco.org under the “Proposals and Projects” tab.

At this time, the Commission is not considering amending the City’s existing “sphere of influence”. The sphere is a LAFCO-determined limit that indicates areas that are eligible for annexation to the City. For Sonoma, the sphere is contiguous with the City’s Urban Growth Boundary, which was set through a voter-approved ordinance.

The proposed action has been determined to be exempt from the State of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under provisions of Section 15061(b)(3) and Section 15320.

Please direct comments, questions, and requests to the office. In order to be included with hearing materials, written comments must be received by May 25, 2022. Written comments received after that date will be provided to the Commission at the public hearing.
