The boards of directors of the Windsor, Bennett Valley, and Rincon Valley Fire Protection Districts and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, acting as the board of directors of County Service Area No. 40 (Fire Services), concurrently adopted a resolution earlier this year initiating formation of a single, unified district to provide fire protection and emergency services more efficiently and effectively and with greater financial feasibility in the central portion of the County.
The change involves dissolution of the Bennett Valley and Rincon Valley Fire Protection Districts and annexation of territory from these districts, the remaining areas in the Roseland Fire Protection District, and territory from County Service Area No. 40 into what is proposed to be called the Sonoma County Fire District. The District would also include territory now within the Windsor Fire Protection District.
